Building Inara | Corrupted Curses
The Corrupted Magic of Golal . . .
Friend, I think it’s time I told you about the dangerous powers followers of Golal can use. This information could save your life.
Golals’ half-dead soldiers have a set of powers that they can use, called Curses.
Each one takes a certain amount of Riith Root consumed to fuel it. You can always tell about how much Riith Root a Corrupted has consumed based on how much of that green smog is escaping their body. A Corrupted that looks like a walking green cloud is extremely dangerous and is not to be fought under any circumstances.
The chances of losing are impossibly high.
Below is a list of the curses known to me that Corrupted can use. There may be more, so always expect the unexpected when fighting them. Oh, and by the way, don’t fight them if you can help it. Always run or hide if possible.
Curse of Paralysis
Cost to use: 1 Full Riith Root
Full Paralysis to the body. This is a devastating curse to face while fighting a Corrupted. Once fully paralyzed in a fight, your chances of surviving are dependent on a miracle happening. In other words, it’s a death sentence. The Corrupted will surely finish you off with a blade once paralyzed. It will be up to any friends or allies you have with you to save you.
Curse of Illness
Cost to use: The severity of the illness is equal to the amount of Riith Root the Corrupted has consumed.
This curse is one of the more survivable ones, depending on how much Riith the Corrupted has. However, a full Roots worth would cause a debilitating illness that might as well be paralysis. Once again, you are finished if that happens.
Curse of Confusion
Cost to use: One Tendril of Riith Root
This curse is particularly dangerous because once you are hit with it, especially if you have allies nearby, you may think them enemies. The Curse of confusion mixes things up in your mind. Makes you feel . . . foggy. Friends become foes, foes become friends, sand could be water, water could be sand. The effects vary, but regardless the toll is high for this curse. This curse eventually fades on its own, so it won’t kill you per se, but it is still dangerous.
Curse of Blindness
Cost to use: 1 Full Riith Root
This curse in the middle of a fight is another route to a quick end, albeit you have a chance if you have allies with you. If you’re allies can protect you and then get the curse reversed, then you can make a full recovery, however after 24 hours of carrying this curse, it becomes permanent.
Curse of Deafening
Cost to use: 1 Full Riith Root
Deafening isn’t particularly deadly on it’s own, but like the rest of the curses, it puts you at a huge disadvantage for fights. Deafening can also be reversed as long as you do so within 24 hours. After that, the curse itself goes away, but you are left completely deaf.
Curse of Poison
Cost to use: The power is equal to the amount of Riith Root consumed.
Similar to illness, the Curse of Poison’s potency is based on how much Riith the Corrupted has when they curse you. However, this curse will remain with you until you receive a healing Prayer or YOM’s Blessing. In other words, even the lightest poison curse will eventually kill you if you do not deal with it. And if the Corrupted is brimming with Riith when they curse you, the curse becomes a quick demise.
It is a dangerous world we roam traveller, but fear not, you can find the means to cleanse yourself from curses. Perhaps you have some Yomatan blood in you hmm? If so, just use a Healing Prayer. Or even if you don’t, there are Yomatans everywhere, and becoming friends with them is quite easy. They are an amiable people.
Regardless, I wish you the best as you traverse Inara. And in case I did not stress this enough, stay away from Corrupted at all costs.
May His Light guide you ☀️
